ANSWER: I bought this for my niece who was 10 months at the time... I think kids as little as 6 months could play with it and mouth it, and then it would be "usable" to snap in the 9-15 month range depending on the kiddo... my niece held it right away, but took a bit to truly snap it. by K A 2/29/2012
