It's no surprise that the original Khet Laser Game was as invented by a couple of mechanical engineering students. And it's also no surprise that this Khet 2.0 Laser Game from Innovention Toys continues to win Mensa awards. Khet has been likened to Chess, but there really is no comparison when you get into the details of the game. The object of this unique laser game is for each player to strategically position their mirrored pieces to deflect laser rays from their opponent's eye-safe lasers. That may seem pretty straightforward, but the way players do this is by positioning the mirrored side of their game pieces so the laser beams bounce away. If a laser lights up an Egyptian-themed Khet game piece, it is eliminated from the game board. In the original Khet, the lasers were part of the board. But in Khet 2.0, the lasers are built in to special Sphinx pieces that perch in the corner and can now rotate to change the angle of the beam (because of this change, the board is very slim and now built to travel)! If you eliminate your opponent's Pharaoh, you win. With multiple ways to set up the board, this easy-to-learn laser game is never boring but is always an invigorating, thought-provoking combination of offensive and defensive strategy. This ancient-meets-space-age laser game is perfect for 2 players, ages 9 & up.
This Khet 2.0 Game is a St. David's staff favorite. Khet challenges children to think abstractly and strategically to position the mirrors and deflect the laser. Giving children an opportunity to stretch their minds and abilities can have positive implications for future independent living. This game also lets children learn cooperative, turn-taking play.
