Loopit

Think Scrabble meets logic and you've got an idea for how Loopit works. Loopit is an terrific family strategy game that is also a great math game. Players place numbered tiles with pipes on a Scrabble-like board. There are over eighty tiles with segments of yarn pictured on them and they only fit in one direction. So, step one is to match yarn ends to yarn ends, for an amusing challenge. Then you tally the score for a particular tile by adding the sum of the tiles it is connected to plus the value of the tile itself, multiplied by the multiplier it is played on. What a great way to work on math!

For younger mathematicians, forget the multiplying and just add the numbers depicted in the tiles and for older children, back out of the role of scorekeeper and let each be responsible to calculate his own score.
